Fog

  • February 15, 2005
This little weather phenomenon (yesterday) made my trip back from lab in Van Leer take about 45 minutes since I had my camera with me. On the way across the CRC field the first time, I ran into Ariel who was snapping some photos himself.

He later informed me that, after our meeting, a cop stopped him and implied that his photography was suspicious and therefore could indicate some sort of terrorist activites (despite the obvious fact that the fog was worth photographing). I love how our country gets on these fads that are just outright retarded. I'm sure there are terrorists out there, and it's possible that some of them like taking pictures of things, but really, what kind of percentage are we looking at here? I'm sure that less than 0.05% of all photographers are terrorists. If you're gonna do profiling of people acting suspicious, shouldn't you go after, say, people in trenchcoats? (No offense, CS majors) I think the odds are about the same that they're terrorists.

Since when did it become okay, even 'in', to call photographers terrorists? Isn't that harassment? I have a right not to be called a terrorist, just like you have a right for me not to be one. C'mon USA, get a grip.

A nice little pamphlet I found about this is here: http://www.krages.com/ThePhotographersRight.pdf

It's outrageous that people believe that photography is a crime.
