The Grandfather and the Cat

  • December 23, 2005
It's tough to photograph my grandparents because they often look morose in posed photos. In actuality, though, they're hilarious to be around. I can even say all that with all honesty, and without having to modify it for when they read this post. Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter are all times when I'm guaranteed to see them at some point, and it's times like those when I appreciate the fact that all of my grandparents are younger than most "grandparents" to people my age, they all retain the same tack-sharp wit they've always had, and the conversations we all have are very much in depth regarding current events and other academic pursuits.

I'm in Carrollton this evening, spending the night at the senior Trewhitt household (read: my father's parents). Tomorrow we'll head back home, then visit the senior Milam (read: my mom's mom) for the Christmas party for her side of the family. On the 29th, Matt and I will be hosting a small party at our apartment for those who are in town, to watch Tech beat Utah at the Emerald Bowl.

As the current trend continues, my posts during the break will be sparse as a result of the chaos that has surrounded me during this "break". Moving into the apartment, finding gifts, attending gettogethers, and making large purchases for all three is draining me of the will to stay awake. I am obligated to continue at full force, though, since the results of these escapades make it all worth it. I officially begin the chaos of grad school at Tech on the 4th of January, with the start of orientation and registration. I don't yet know what I'll be taking, nor what my schedule will be, but I'm already assuring myself that it will not be easy.
