Library Mood Lighting

  • September 27, 2006
Every now and then I wander around the library and try to capture the strange mood that it inevitably produces. I will eventually wander up to the upper floors of the stacks, where I find it interesting that there are always students hidden in the nooks, hunched over a book, their laptop, or simply taking a nap as an intermission. The solitude of working in these spots is far greater than within the cubes of the third floor since the bookshelves absorb most sounds and block line-of-sight, leaving each student in an individual world visually and aurally.
