ESPN Game Day

  • October 3, 2006
This is what Yellow Jacket Park looked like during the evening before the Notre Dame game a while back. After ESPN left, the park had become a marsh that was so poorly drained that it has been partially off-limits since then. I'm not sure why Tech's landscaping people have such a hard time getting many of the areas of green space on campus to drain properly.

The area where the Hightower Building used to be. I think it's a stupid name, too. :P

Since a building used to be on top of it, the ground is very compacted. Surrounded by concrete, there's not much place for the water to go. Plus, it's Georgia clay. They've just put in a series of pipes in the ground to tube the water directly into the drain near the center of the field.
