Turtle Cheesecake: 2 Coupons

  • October 14, 2006
Today I shot day 1 of the Taste of Atlanta festival. Representatives from many restaurants around the ATL had gathered in tents to show off their best meal offerings. Visitors purchased admission to obtain a set of 10 "TASTE tickets" (a.k.a. coupons) to use as currency at the tents, where food choices could be tried for 1, 2, or 3 tickets, depending on the "price" set by that particular restaurant.

It was interesting to see the dynamics of ticket-price setting for the food samples. Some of the ritzy restaurants chose to make all their dishes 2 and 3 tickets, which I guess is supposed to signify that the samples were nicer than others. However, some of the single-ticket dishes were certainly not weak, such as the tuna that Matt and I sampled from SoHo. It seems to me that restaurants would want to keep their "price" as low as possible to get as many people as possible to sample your wares. Oh well. Tomorrow I return for another spin at things and another set of tickets!
