Orion Nebula

Funny that the standard Canon 70-200 lens is able to get a better photo of the nebula, shown here, than I ever got when shooting through my huge telescope. This photo is the result of stacking 6 photos together to reduce noise. I particularly love that some of the colors in the nebula can be resolved.

I was surprised that I couldn't see it at all when I looked for it in the sky with my naked eye. But now I realize that the only way this is showing up in your photo is because the stars are very overexposed. But who cares? Cool shot. I should have (would have liked to) try it with my 2x tele extender for 400mm.

The 400mm approach would totally work. Take a ton of shots and stack 'em, and you've got a great image.
